My Japanese Honeymoon: Day 4 - Studio Ghibli Museum

This was one of the days I'd been looking forward to the most - Studio Ghibli Museum day! Based in Mitaka, just outside of Tokyo, we had a little bit of time to kill before our entrance time, so we headed to the park where the museum is also located. Inside, there was a beautiful red shrine which we visited, as well as two zoos! For the cheap price of £3, we managed to get into both - bargain.

The zoo was home to their famous Asian elephant, which died last year, but there's still plenty in this small zoo to take a look at. It also included a sculpture garden, and a traditional Japanese garden in that entry fee.

Once done, we walked to the Studio Ghibli Museum for our entrance time. The museum prohibits photos inside, but we were able to grab a few outside. Walking around without a camera obscuring things inside was actually rather pleasant, and as there's no photos of the inside around online really, it just helped to make the trip all the more magical. Inside contains several exhibit rooms, a reconstructed office of Miyasaki, and a theatre where they play short films that can only ever be watched inside the museum. Our one was about a cute puppy that escapes his home and gets lost - it was adorable. We grabbed some souvenirs from the shop and another Ghibli store down the road from the museum.

From here, we jumped on a train to Nakano, another geeky place. We spent a long time here, looking at low priced merchandise before we grabbed a train back to Shinjuku. Here, we grabbed a delicious bowl of ramen and drunk some plum wine in a small restaurant, before hitting the arcades. Some comic con friends, Nich and Alice from Big Punch Studios were also on their honeymoon in Japan after getting married the day before us (happy coincidence). We happened to randomly bump into them whilst walking home at the end of the night!

Day 4 was so fun. The tickets are a bit tricky to get hold of, but if you're lucky enough to grab some, definitely take a trip to the Studio Ghibli Museum. I loved it.
