Throwback - Gaming with my Brother

Us gamers can be pretty nostalgic people. We all look back wistfully at old gaming memories we still hold dear to us. Look at the reaction on Twitter when the Spyro the Dragon, and Crash Bandicoot remasters were confirmed - people who were playing this the first time around were delighting that a piece of their childhood was making a return.

So, this got me thinking about my fond gaming memories growing up. A lot of my gaming took place sitting next to my brother, handing the controller back and fourth to one another when either of us died in-game. I've brought my brother Jack on board for this one, so join us as we reminisce about a selection of games we both played through together, and loved!

Couldn't seem to find an old video game pic of us,
so here's me and Jack playing Incy Wincy Spider with our Dad instead!

My Dad's Favourite Games

It is my Dad's birthday today, so I decided to have a little chat with him about his favourite games he used to love playing when I was growing up.

I am currently temporarily living with my parents again before a move with my boyfriend in the new year. During this time, I have my PS4 set up, and Dad has been trying out the 2013 Tomb Raider reboot and will be revisiting Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee soon.

Join me as my Dad shares his favourite games, with a comment from myself after.

Tomb Raider

Dad: "We all used to sit together to watch me play it. I remember how 'real' everything felt back then-the crunching snow (first time I really felt how far games had come), the locations, gameplay, etc. It got me into the Tomb Raider series."

Kayleigh: I became a huge Tomb Raider fan since I first sat there with the family and watched my Dad play through the old ones. Lara Croft is awesome. Cheers Dad!

20 Years of PlayStation: My Favourite Playstation Titles

So today marks the 20th anniversary of PlayStation (at least in the US), and many of us, especially on social media, are feeling a little nostalgic. For me, it reminded me of so many games I had fond memories of growing up. I was six years old when the original PlayStation was released.

It is crazy to think how far gaming has come since then, but I still like to think back to some of my first proper experiences. Whilst plenty can be attributed to Nintendo's SNES, GameBoy and consoles thereafter, the PlayStation still holds a special place in my memories.

Here are some of my favourite games I enjoyed playing during the PlayStation One years.

Tomb Raider, Tomb Raider 2
Tomb Raider was one of the first games myself and my brother got for the PlayStation. Whilst I don't recall either of us completing it back then, we both have fond memories of watching our dad complete the Tomb Raider series, especially the first two.

Not only did the first two games in particular help to cement Lara Croft as one of gamings most celebrated heroines, but they were damn fine games to boot too.
