Happy Birthday, Shigeru Miyamoto!

Happy 62nd Birthday, Shigeru Miyamoto!

One of the most influential members of the gaming industry, Shigeru Miyamoto is responsible for some of the best-selling, critically acclaimed games of all time. Joining Nintendo in 1977, Miyamoto helped to create the companies' most popular franchises, such as Super Mario, The Legend of Zelda, Star Fox, Pikmin and Donkey Kong. He can be credited for lending his creative vision to the companies' popular systems, such as the Wii, SNES, N64 and more.

A true gaming legend, Shigeru Miyamoto now works for Nintendo as a 'Creative Fellow', a title given to him after Nintendo President Satoru Iwata's death.

So, happy birthday Shigeru. Your games were credited as the reason I got into Nintendo as a kid, and I really thank you for that.

The Legend of Zelda: Kay's Awakening

It was my birthday on the 29th April, and one of my closest friends made me the funniest (and coolest!) of cards.

He knows I love The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening, so he mocked up this for me, complete with my birth year.

So thanks Brad! I love it.

I've Got a PS4!

It was my birthday on the 29th April, and I got a PS4, thanks to my family!

I have a bunch of games I already bought during the sale (Telltale Games set again, Tomb Raider for example), and am looking forward to working through everything. I'm surprised by how many games I have already, and I've only had it for three days!

Above: Cat cuddles, Skyping with my boyfriend (and joint gaming), and playing through Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition on the new PS4. Gotta love cosy gaming nights!

Any PS4 recommendations for me? Let me know in the comments!

Nintendo's main man and all-round legend Shigeru Miyamoto celebrates his 62nd birthday today.

Happy birthday Mr Miyamoto! Thank you for creating so many of my Nintendo memories, both past and present.

8-Bit Girl Turns One! :D

Happy Birthday 8-Bit Girl!

Yes, today marks the blog's 1 year anniversary. This time last year I had just posted my first ever blog entry, had no dedicated Twitter or Facebook, and absolutely no readers. Now, I'm here with a 450+ fanbase on Twitter, close to 200 on Facebook, and god knows how many of you actually just come to the blog to read it...but judging by my daily pageviews, it's quite a lot!

I want to take this time to say thank you for all of the support. Without all of your kind comments, shares of my posts, etc, I probably wouldn't still be here one year on.

So I'll share with you my first ever post for 8-Bit Girl once again. Hopefully in a year my writing has progressed somewhat, and my posts have got a little better. I'll let you all be the judge on that one. :) L.A. Noire-Worthy Of All The Hype?

I'll (hopefully) be giving the blog a bit of a revamp soon, with a new banner, logo etc, and I plan to continue my reviews, interviews, news posts etc, as long as you all want to keep reading them!

Thanks guys!

Birthday Presents: Gaming T-Shirts!

It was my birthday on Sunday (29th April) and I got spoilt with many fantastic presents, but I thought I'd share with you all two gaming related t-shirts that I was treated to.

Check these out:
As every Zelda fan should know, pester a Cuckoo long enough, and you'll be attacked by a swarm of them. I could never resist a bit of Cuckoo pestering...

My other t-shirt was a retro NES cartridge inspired Skyrim shirt, complete with the Dragonborn himself.
Both shirts were available on Qwertee, but unfortunately they're no more! For those who are unaware, Qwertee sells t-shirts for 24 hours only. Once the times up, they're gone forever.

Thank you to everyone who sent me some birthday wishes!

It's My Birthday!

Hey all,
Happy Birthday To Me! :P

Well, I turned 24 today, and things are rather busy so I won't be around for the day.

I've queued up some posts for you all, and I want to thank everyone who has wished me happy birthday. Also, thank you for making 8-Bit Girl increasingly grow! It's a pleasure to update it, and I'm pleased that so many of you are interested in what I've got to blog about.

Kayleigh :)
