Wind Waker Is Coming To Wii U!

If you needed a reason to buy the Wii U...then this is it. Wind Waker, the classic cell-shaded Zelda game for the Gamecube is getting a HD remake!

Fans will see this beloved title get a complete overhaul, including new HD graphics, up-scaled for today's televisions, alongside new controls to integrate the Wii U's controller. In a Nintendo Direct broadcast today, it's been announced that the game is due to be expected sometime in Autumn 2013.

But that's not all. As well as the exciting announcement of Wind Waker Wii U, there is another Zelda title in the works for Nintendo's latest console. Producer Eiji Aonuma said their mission is to "rethink the conventions of Zelda", but no further details about the game, and what changes are expected, were announced. A big tease, but quite a welcome one. A new Zelda game is just what the Wii U is needing. 

Below are nine screenshots from the remake of Wind Waker. A beautiful game on the Gamecube, it appears that Nintendo have managed to improve on this even more. But will it beat the gameplay experience we originally had on the Gamecube? Only time will tell.

Gameplay Footage for Oddworld Remake Released

Just Add Water have released new footage for their upcoming Oddworld remake. 

Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee New N' Tasty is a HD, revamped version of Abe's Oddysee, a well loved PS1 title. Not only have the graphics had an upgrade, but Just Add Water have also added new dialogue and puzzles. 

The game will be getting a 2013 release for PSN (on both PS3 and Vita), XBLA and PC. I loved the original, so personally I'm quite excited about this one!

Killzone Trilogy Set Announced

So many older games nowadays are getting the HD reboot. The latest is the Killzone trilogy. 

Guerilla Games announced that the Killzone Trilogy, exclusive for the for Playstation 3. The set will include Killzone, Killzone 2 and Killzone 3. The original PS2 title, Killzone will be remastered into HD, whilst the other two games will be available with all DLC. 

The trilogy will be released on the 23rd October in America, and the 24th October in Europe. 

Yakuza HD Revamp is Official

Sega has revealed their HD revamp of Yakuza 1 and 2 via a Japanese trailer.  Both games have received a graphical revamp and will also allow players to install game data onto the PS3's hard drive, decreasing the games loading times.

The Yakuza games have been massive hits in Japan and whilst there is no word of a release date for the HD revamp, Yakuza 5 is scheduled to be released for the PS3 in Japan this winter.

Two Remastered Resident Evil Titles Coming to PS3

Two Wii exclusive Resident Evil titles are no longer only available on the Wii. Capcom confirmed today that Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles and The Darkside Chronicles will be available to download from the Playstation store sometime in the near future.


The titles will be remastered in full HD, and will be compatible with the Playstation Move. These two titles were excellent games on the Wii which allowed co-op, often on-the-rails shooting fun in the Resident Evil universe. The games delved deeper into the timeline and gave fans the chance to find out more about previously unvisited events. 


Capcom will also be adding trophies to these remastered editions, whilst the Playstation Move capability allows for an experience much like that found in the Wii versions.

Jet Set Radio HD Trailer Released

Further to the announcement that Jet Set Radio HD will be heading to the Xbox 360 Arcade and Playstation Network, Sega have now released the first trailer. 


The trailer features some of the games vibrant cel-shaded graphics, and a pretty catchy tune. Check it out below.

Sega Officially Announces Jet Set Radio HD

After quite some speculations from fans and game sites, SEGA have officially announced today that yes, Jet Set Radio will be getting a re-release. 


Originally released in 2000 for the Dreamcast, the sequel, Jet Set Radio Future, hit the Xbox two years later. Jet Set Radio saw DJ Professor K, Beat, Gum and the rest race through a futuristic Toyko and spraying their graffiti  tags across the area. 


The game will be upgraded to HD and will be coming to the Xbox Live Arcade, Playstation Network and Windows PC as a digital download sometime this summer. Jet Set Radio has an excellent art style which I'm sure would look fantastic in high definition. 


As well as this news, SEGA also announced that they are holding a contest for UK and USA fans of the game to design their own graffiti. When the contest is over, 18 entries will make it into the finished game. Many more prizes are also up for grabs!For more details, check out the SEGA website. 

Max Payne to Hit Mobile Devices

Originally revealed last September, Rockstar Games will be releasing the first Max Payne game on iOS and Android devices soon apparently. This mobile version of Max Payne will include a HD overhaul (much like most re-releases these days), customizable controls and Rockstar Games Social Club integration. Those who are opposed to using touch screen controls will be pleased to hear that the game will also feature controller support.


Rockstar will confirm the release date and more information soon. 

Rayman 3 Coming to XBLA & PSN

Critics and fans alike are currently loving the recently released Rayman Origins, but Rayman is to get the HD treatment once again on the Xbox 360 Live Marketplace and Playstation Network.


Ubisoft have announced that Rayman 3: Hoodlum in Havoc will be gaining a HD re-release sometime in Spring 2012. Ubisoft have confirmed that Rayman 3 will feature new HD-rendered widescreen graphics, a 60 frames per second run time, and improved audio quality.


Ubisoft have also stated that Rayman 3 will feature around 15-20 hours of gameplay, and achievements/trophies will be integrated into the gameplay. An online leaderboard is also to be expected.

September Brings More Resident Evil!

This month, Resident Evil fans have been treated to two HD revamps of two games in the series-Resident Evil 4 and Code Veronica X. Released by Capcom, the Resident Evil series combines elements of the survival horror genre with an intriguing story, and an eclectic bunch of heroes and villains. 


The re-vamped editions of both of these games boast some excellent high definition graphics, and allow for fans to re-immerse themselves with two cracking additions to the series, as well as welcoming in first time players.

Resident Evil 4
Resident Evil 4 originally gained a release on the Nintendo Gamecube in 2005. Since then, it has been released on the Playstation 2, iPod Touch and iPhone, Wii and Zeebo. 


Regarded as the best in the Resident Evil series by many fans, Resident Evil 4 follows Raccoon City hero-cop Leon S. Kennedy, who has been sent on a mission to rescue the President's kidnapped daughter, Ashley Graham. Leon has been directed to a remote village in Europe, where he is quickly faced with a barrage of hostile, and infected, locals. Things begin to get more sinister, as Leon realises that a mysterious cult lies behind the villagers, and Ashley is caught up in this huge mess. Leon now must save Ashley, stop the cult from carrying out their plans, and try to warn the rest of the world before the infection spreads. 


Resident Evil 4 is available to download from now. 

Code Veronica X HD


Code Veronica X follows Clare Redfield, who is searching for her missing brother, a S.T.A.R.S member, Chris Redfield. After narrowly escaping the events in Raccoon City, Clare sets out to track down her brother, only to find herself stumbling upon the news that the notorious Umbrella Corporation's zombie creating antics stretch much further than this remote city. The game then follows Clare as she strives to find out what Umbrella Corporation are planning, as well as finding out where her brother has got to. 


Code Veronica X is due for a release on the 27th September. Not long to go now!


Resident Evil fans definitely have a lot to look forward to in the coming months. As well as the two revamped editions released on the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 this month, fans will expect Resident Evil: Revelations on the Nintendo 3DS, as well as the forthcoming (but unfortunately recently delayed) Operation Racoon City for the PS3 and Xbox 360.


Resident Evil 4 and Code Veronica X HD are priced at £14.99 and are available on the PSN and Xbox Live Games On Demand services.
