GoldenEye 007: Reloaded Coming to Consoles

There have been rumours for a while that GoldenEye would make it's debut on the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360, but it appears that finally, it is more than just rumours. Almost 15 years have passed since the original N64 classic was released, a game which originally proved that first person shooters CAN work on consoles. Still talked about by many, and with fans left waiting for a taste of this again on a newer console, it is clear that GoldenEye is a well loved classic.

GoldenEye 007: Reloaded apparently will be released this Autumn for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles, although Activision, the games developer, will not officially confirm this as of yet. As some may know, GoldenEye will probably never see a straight-forward HD update, due to arguments between owning laws between Nintendo,RARE and Microsoft. However, GoldenEye on the Wii was eventually commissioned, allowing for a new spin on the title.
Whilst details may still be a little sparse due to the game only being officially announced yesterday, what can be noted is that this will be a remake of the Wii version, with additional modes. The single player is apparently identical to the single player mode in the Wii version, so those who have played that should at least be aware somewhat of what to expect in terms of story and game play. It appears that GoldenEye 007: Reloaded will be getting a brand new game engine, meaning that GoldenEye is brought into a crisper, more realistic view with (hopefully) stunning HD visuals.  GoldenEye 007: Reloaded also promises plenty of James Bond stealth kills, infiltrating bases and tons of action.

The Wii version of GoldenEye, released at the end of 2010 was essentially the N64 version, with a few tweaks. Will this be the same for GoldenEye 007: Reloaded? Well, nothing has been officially confirmed on this point as of yet, but it appears that changes are definitely in order. This new game will feature the obligatory online multi-player option available for up to 16 players in one session. Special "MI6 Ops" Missions have also been added, allowing for an additional piece of game play aside from the main story. These missions work in the same way as the Spec Ops missions do in Call of Duty, and are for the single player mode only. Players can choose from Extraction, Assault, Stealth, and Wave Defence modes, and apparently this should add around 10 hours extra game play after the main story is completed.
What has remained at least from the original N64 version is the four player split screen, so fans of the original can take comfort in knowing that they can still invite over three over mates and play it on one screen.

From the early details, GoldenEye 007: Reloaded sounds like it is going to be a great game, although fans of the original N64 version may not like the significant amount of changes that Activision promise in this new version. For now we must all wait and see what else this game has to offer. It's early days, and anything can happen.
