Aliens: Colonial Marines CG Trailer
SEGA have just released a new trailer for Aliens: Colonial Marines, a squad-based FPS being developed by Gearbox.
The game focuses on a group of Marines who are sent on a mission to inspect the abandoned U.S.S. Sulaco, which has been found mysteriously orbiting around the LV-426.
It's a great CG trailer, which features a soundtrack from Clint Mansell, the composer for Moon, although it would be great to see some in-game footage. Hopefully this will follow soon! Check out the trailer below.

New Syndicate Trailers Released
Starbreeze Studios (developers of The Darkness) have released a new trailer for their upcoming first person shooter, Syndicate. A remake of the original game by Bullfrog, Starbreeze Studios version has completely refresh the original title. The tactics of the original Syndicate may be missing, but this trailer definitely looks promising.
This trailer reveals many of the weapons which will be available in the game. Many of which have alternate fire modes, enabling for a more tactical FPS than many of us probably expected. Both videos appear to stay true to the original game world and design, so it certainly appears that the team at Starbreeze Studios are off to a good start.

MW3 Breaks All Sales Records
This weeks release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 took in almost half a billion dollars in one day, breaking all previous sales records. A whopping 6.5 million copies of the game were sold in North America and the UK in the first 24 hours of release, pulling in over $400 million, according to Activision.
This beat the first-day sales of Call of Duty: Black Ops by 0.9 million copies and beat its prequel, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 by 1.8 million copies.
Such sales make this the biggest gaming launch in history, almost in league with the Largest movie blockbuster opening weekend. Currently that title is held by Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows at $483 million. However, this is taking into account two days not just the one, which means MW3 could have beaten this milestone, making it one of the largest releases across the whole of the entertainment industry. Impressive, huh?

Dead Island: Zombies are Coming!
There are plenty of zombie games available on the market, such as the Resident Evil series, or Left 4 Dead. September 2011 marks the release of Dead Island, an open-world game focusing on an island of the undead.
Dead Island will be played from a first person perspective, but it also combines melee combat, RPG elements such as an experience system, and four-player co-operative play. Dead Island is set in Palms Resort, an island promising tranquillity and relaxation, but nothing is as perfect as it seems. Soon after your chosen character has arrived on the island, a zombie outbreak has occurred. From here on in, the game becomes a fight for survival on an island swarmed with the living dead. The player must use a multitude of weaponry to tackle the zombie hoard.
As well as the main storyline, there are side-quests to complete, which can also be completed with another player. Zombies will range from the normal types to the "special infected", and these encounters will be randomly generated through the levels. Details on who these enemies are specifically have not been fully released as of yet. The exploration element of RPG's is present here, and players can often be rewarded for their exploration with weapons, or new objects for crafting.
Upon reading the information and viewing the trailer, Dead Island sounds very much like zombie slaying Left 4 Dead and it's sequel. A four player first person co-op, with special infected and tons of melee kills? It does seem like a case of "we've been here before" with this one, but the RPG elements should hopefully make this a much deeper and involved game than the Left 4 Dead games were. I look forward to having some first-hand Dead Island experience when the game hits the stores on the 9th September 2012.
