My Comic Con Survival Guide

San Diego Comic Con is just around the corner, and it got me thinking about comic cons in general, and what I usually do to prepare to going to one.

Comic Cons can be pretty fun. It's a great way to meet like-minded people, pick up some geek merch, and meet some celebs. Check out my Comic Con Survival Guide below!

MCM Comic Con - May 2016

So, MCM May 2016 is officially over! It always goes incredibly quickly, but as usual, I had a lot of fun, both as Press for 8-Bit Girl and Geek Mash, and just in general on the Sunday, 29th of May.

I was busy taking a lot of photos this time around of some fantastic cosplayers. I also spoke to Lee Skittrell from Rising Star Games about their upcoming game. We got to sample a small section of it, a conga mini-game that was actually really fun. The object of the game was to boogie around a dance floor and pick up more people in your conga line. The winner was the player with the longest line at the end. I also watched some of my friends and fellow Geek Mash team members play Odin's Sphere, Koei's Attack on Titan game and Rising Star's Lumo

One of my highlights, albeit brief, was meeting Tomb Raider's Camilla Luddington. She was really friendly! Here's the picture below:

Join Me At MCM Comic Con, 29th of May!

It's that time again! I'll be pressing it up at the MCM Comic Con all of tomorrow for both 8-Bit Girl and Geek Mash!

I'll be tweeting throughout the day, taking plenty of pictures and doing some write-up's on both blogs. I'm also looking forward to meeting Tomb Raider's Camilla Luddington for a photo!

So, keep an eye on here, my Facebook and Twitter. I'll be popping stuff up over the next few days or so. Also, if you recognise me at all, or any of the Geek Mash guys for that matter, don't hesitate to swing by and say hi!

I hope you all enjoy it. :)

8-Bit Girl at MCM Comic Con: October 2015

Sunday 26th October was yet another year where I was under the guise of Press at the London MCM Comic Con. Here I was joined by my friends and fellow writers at Geek Mash, as well as getting some bits done for 8-Bit Girl on Twitter throughout the day.

The three day show saw 130,560 people pass through the doors of ExCel in London, breaking the previous record set in May's MCM (122,600).

The show featured a plethora of cosplay, stalls, panels, merchandise, celebrities, artists, writers, games and more. I spent the Sunday in my Alice Madness Returns cosplay. Check out some of the pictures below, and see a whole album of MCM photos (including more taken by myself) over on the Geek Mash Facebook.

Alice's Adventures in MCM Comic Con

This October's MCM Comic Con in London was the second time I have ever cosplayed (I went as Mario a few years ago), and somehow it just made the whole experience more fun!

During my time at MCM, I sat in on two talks-Tomb Raider and the Temple of Osiris, and the Resident Evil HD talk with Wesker himself, DC Douglas. I also got the chance to hang out with my regular con friends and Comic Village exhibitors, browse the stalls and check out other cosplayers. The queues were mental for the game demos!

Here's some of the photos taken of me as Alice. It was also nice meeting fellow matching cosplayers!

Halo 4 Limited Edition Console Bundle Details

Check out this Xbox 360 Limited Edition Halo 4 console bundle! Microsoft and 343 Industries revealed the bundle at the Comic Con in San Diego.

The bundle includes a snazzy custom Halo console, two matching controllers, a wired headset, a 320GB hard drive, a copy of Halo 4, built in Wi-Fi and Xbox Live tokens for exclusive Halo 4 in game and avatar marketplace DLC.

Not only this, but the ring that lights up when the Xbox 360 is in use has been given a blue light rather than the usual green, to match the colour scheme of the custom skin.

The bundle will be released at the same time as Halo 4, on the 6th November 2012.

No Escape-A Fitting Homage To Portal

Released by Valve in 2007, Portal gave gamers a new challenge-completing puzzles by transporting themselves, and objects, through portals. Portal 2, released in April, has since shifted over three million copies, meaning that Portal is definitely still a fan favourite from this company.

It's clear to say that the idea of physics puzzles and the ability to create portals with a gun has captivated many fans worldwide, and this could definitely be seen in the recently released Portal short film by director Dan Trachtenberg, No Escape. Gaining it's debut screening at this years Comic Con, No Escape received critical praise, and rightly so. What we have here is a brief, but incredibly solid homage to the game.

Whilst the humorous aspects of Portal are not present here (GlaDOS's outbursts for example), the film makes up for this with plenty of moments of the portal gun in action. The film-makers cite Terminator 2 as an influence, so you should get an idea of what to expect here. The visual effects are flawless, and the ending is excellent.

With over 3 million views on YouTube, combined with positive reviews dotted around the internet, I just wish someone would give Dan Trachtenberg enough money to turn this into a full length film now.

You can check out the film in it's entirety below:

I will hopefully be writing quite regularly for MCM BUZZ, and will post up the links to my articles here whenever there are any new ones. I am sure at least some of my readers will be interested in checking them out.

The Latest Zelda News

Zelda fans, rejoice! It appears that Nintendo's favourite green-capped hero will not be taking a hiatus any time soon. The re-release of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time on the Nintendo 3DS has been out just over a month now, and now Nintendo have (finally) put their Zelda energy into celebrating Zelda's 25th anniversary which occurred a few months ago. As well as this, a new trailer has been revealed at Comic Con for the next Zelda title, Skyward Sword. Read on for more info!

The First 25th Anniversary Celebrations Are Here!
A series of Legend of Zelda: 25th anniversary symphony concerts will be taking place, with the first commencing in Los Angeles in October of this year. A full tour is scheduled to continue sometime at the beginning of 2012. Fans who caught the introduction to the Nintendo section of E3 should expect the concerts to sound just like this. Nintendo have released an official video to confirm the news, and this can be viewed below:
More details can also be found at the Zelda Symphony website.

New Skyward Sword trailer released!

Released at this week's Comic Con in San Diego, the new trailer for Skyward Sword confirms the speculation that Link's old buddies, the Gorons will be making a return in this title. Although most of the action has been seen before in the trailer revealed at E3, this new trailer displays a bit more of the flying sequences on the birds around the new fictional Zelda world, Skyloft. Also shown at a greater length is the action sequences, with a new spider boss being briefly shown.

The game promises for a greater sense of control via the motion-control WiiMote, which is great to hear, as although Twilight Princess was excellent, the controls on the Wii versions were at times a little clunky. Skyward Sword will have a lot of flying sequences-another refreshing aspect for the series, and Zelda this time around will not be a Princess.

You can watch the new trailer below:
